Ok this is a wierd question but my friend has like diamondish-triangle shaped pupils?

i just met someone that was basically blind as a bat but he told me it was because his pupils are triangular and i looked and it was true it didnt look like cats eyes it was small and strange i had never seen it before anybody know what might cause this??
