Whats with this rash on my neck?

I noticed this rash on my neck with consists of little REALLY ITCHY and REALLY PAINFUL red bumps without even touching it. I feel a horrible stabbing-like pain in my neck and im SO tempted to itch it but it hurts enough as it is, let alone to touch it, which makes it so much worse! Ive been taking 800 mg ibuprofen but it doesnt seem to help at all. I was wondering if anyone know what it might be. I was thinking an early stage of shingles but i dont want to jump to any conclusions. Any help is apperciated. =)
