Why doesn't Syria retaliate against Israel for the air strike?

Because if they do, they know for sure that Israel will unleash even more airstrikes, and cause more damage and casualties. Everyone knows Israel can smoke anyone in the region during a war or conflict. the only one who will give them trouble would be Iran. Mind you, that is only if they actually do go to war and not try to be peacemaker like the USA.
