Why is bad for manny not to be defensive minded and be slick but its ok for floyd not to brawl and win by KO?

"Safety first" boxers like Floyd Mayweather, Michael Nunn, Tyrone Crawley, Pernell Whitaker, Chris Byrd, etc get reamed by pundits because of their boring style. I suppose ideally, a fighter that can outbox boxers and outbrawl brawlers, like maybe Marvin Hagler, is seen as a complete fighter. Manny's jab output vs Mosley was anemic, but he still got the job done. And from what i have seen, there have been countless articles on Manny Pacquiao's improvement from a one dimensional fighter who only relied on a straight left while lifting his back foot, to what he has become today. Obviously, the term "one dimensional" is a suspect one because to be a professional fighter, you obviously have to do more than one thing pretty good. Even Mayweather stood flat footed against Shane Mosley and a few others in his career.
