Moving to devon in august 2009?

Hello me and my boyfriend are moving from hampshire to devon in august, we are in no situation and with the current house market, to buy our own place so we are going to rent first. But as it gets nearer and we have to do things we are starting to worry, as we need to rent a house to get a job but need to get a job to rent a house. Would it be ok if just one of us got a job and then the other had a garantor, i am a nanny and have been looking for jobs to start in august time but i cant start a nanny job until i have a house. How shall i go about it and what shall i do i am very confused, i have moved house before but that was only down the road not to another county.
