Can I finish 12th grade with an IEP diploma?

I live in upstate NY and argued my right to be in school when cherry valley high school urged me to take the IEP diploma and get my GED. As educators I feel that was really lousy because I always did very good work in school and want more than anything to finish school. SO, my question is can I go back to high school with my IEP diploma or what are upstate NY laws about this. I do not live in that district anymore and want a chance to finish. I just moved back from Florida and am very upset with this state. These teachers set up this meeting within the first week I was there and didn't even give me a chance.
